‘ETL Talend permet d’ajouter simplement de nouvelles fonctions et composants afin de réaliser des processus complexes. Ce cours vous permettra de prendre en main les fonctionnalités avancées de Talend Open Studio, afin d’aboutir à une mise en place optimisée et fiable des flux de données.

Requirements

  • Know the basics of Talend Open Studio or have taken the "Talend Open Studio, implementing data integration" course

Training program

  • Talend Open Studio presentation.
  • Reminder of the principles of ETL.
  • Installation of TOS. 

Java and routines

  • Presentation of the principles of implementation in Java.
  • View the Java code associated with a job.
  • Talend Java components.
  • Creation and use of routines.
  • Anatomy and creation of a component.
Exercise
Use of tMemorizeRows, tJavaFlex, tJava. Write a routine and use it in a job.
  • Connection - disconnection components.
  • Transactions: commit and rollback management.
  • Calling a stored procedure.
  • Implement ELT components.
  • Methods “Slowly Changing dimension”.
  • Father / Son link: connection sharing, variable sharing and return values.
Exercise
Mutualization of connections, use of Rollback. Job creation to detect changes in data sources
 

Handling of complex structures

  • Interacting with Web Services
  • Handle XML streams.
  • Discover the JSON components.
  • Use regular expressions.
Case study
Use of Web services components in a Job. Create XML files from a flat file, Use MySQL ELT components. Generate a simple JSON object. Use regular expressions.
  • Debugging.
  • Monitor job performance.
  • Set up your own logging system.
  • Optimize job performance.
Exercise
Add monitoring components to a job, set up a log system, use buffers.

Deployment in production

  • The contexts and their management.
  • Launch a job out of TOS.
  • Schedule the execution of a job in Windows.
  • Schedule the execution of a job under Linux.
  • Talend Enterprise et la TAC.
Exercise
Associate a context group to a job. Export the first job created outside TOS, schedule the execution of the exported job via the Windows Task Scheduler.

Pedagogical methods

Practical training: 70% Practical, 30% Theory.
Training material distributed in digital format to all participants.
Access to servers and databases as well as PCs are provided for practice.

Evaluation method

The evaluation of the objectives is done throughout the session through multiple exercises (70% of time).

Instructor

Our training is provided by Mohand LARABI, PhD in computer science and Talend expert.

Organization

Classes start at 9am until 12:30pm and then from 2pm until 5:30pm. That is 7 hours per day.
